The Eurotunnel service is our favoured way of crossing the channel. Folkestone to Calais in just 35 minutes by train, remaining in your car which means you are more COVID 19 safe than other forms of transport. Trains run all year, up to 6 trains an hour at peak times.

It takes 5 hours to drive from Calais to LMV, adding however many comfort breaks you need. The route we recommend includes toll roads but you may avoid these if you prefer. The route is all motorway or dual carriageway until the final 20kms.

Many of the large car manufacturers are now adding the App to their in-car navigation systems and emergency services are also making use of the software for locations which would otherwise be hard to find.  It is free to download, and we recommend it for finding places listed on our website. We can recommend places to park. Picnic spots and even a usual spot for a market stall by using this innovative navigation tool.

Ferries operate from a number of UK ports to Calais, Dieppe, Le Havre, Caen, and St Malo. The onward journey by car varies from 3 - 5.5 hours depending on the choice of route.

Flights from the UK arriving at Tours, just an hour away, or Poitiers or Nantes nearer two hours away operate regularly throughout the season.  It is easy to get a train from Tours to Saumur, or Nantes to Saumur, and of course it is also possible to rent a car for your holiday at each of these airports.

It is also possible to take the Eurostar arriving in Paris for onward travel to Tours & Saumur, or to Lille for onward travel to Angers or Le Mans.
