What our guests say...

Lovely week in the Loire valley in Julie's clean and comfortable house. The bedrooms were compact for four adults but comfortable beds and we slept well. Plenty of space outside with trees to find shade for outdoor eating; the best pool we have ever enjoyed at a holiday let with ample loungers and sunshades. Our two small dogs enjoyed the ourdoor freedom and playing with Julie's larger puppy even if they did find the boisterous play overwhelming at times.

August 2024 - Simon and Family (Airbnb)

We stayed with Julie, Simon and Carol for 2 weeks. We loved the location it is stunning, the area is very peaceful surrounded by fields full of sunflowers. Julie is a great host and made us feel very welcome and allowed us to do our own thing. The pool was amazing, the house was very comfortable and cosy and had everything you could possible need. We took Monty our Springer Spaniel and he absolutely loved the location, he had so much space to roam free plus a closeby watering hole to cool down in the heat, as we as enjoying the company of Julie's two dogs Martha and Nancy.  The private garden with BBQ was great and we spent may nights watching the sunset across the fields.  We wanted 2 weeks of complete relaxation and this is waht we got. Supermarket is very local with lots to see and do all on your doorstep!. Alovely holiday had by all! Monty definittely gave it the thumbs up! You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay. Thank you Julie x

We recently had a few lovely days at Le Moulin Verneau in the small cottage, it was ideal and all on the ground floor with access straight onto your own patio.  Julie and family made us very welcome.  The setting is perfect, so tranquil with great views in every direction.  Only a short drive away to nearby towns and villages, Saumur being our favourite.  What was also lovely after a day sightseeing we were able to swim in the heated pool situated int he grounds.  We were travelling with our Labrador who was made welcome by the family's dogs.  Highly recommend a visit

Just back from a lovely stay here. Julie, CArol and their two dogs are all very friendly and welcoming. The think that stood out the most for us was the amazing pool area (which we made very good use of!) ....a lovely sized pool, plenty of sun loungers, shade if you wanted it, a separate seating area for lounging, and another for eating, gas/coal barbeque, fridge to keep the important drinks cold, and even windbreaks built into the fence - this was by far the best pool area we have had at a gite.  The gite also had a lovely separate outside seating area overlooking the field of sunflowers - which was perfect for morning coffee.

Had a fantastic stay in the lovely little gite! Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Good facilities, including the pool which was heated! Special mention to Pippa and Martha, who were very friendly.

Jacques - July 2023 (Airbnb)

Our family of four had a great stay in Julie and Sion's gite which is one of two rental homes on the converted barn. The grounds are well laid out with an excellent pool area with sunloungers, sofas, tables, barbeque, awnings and a Bluetooth music system.  The accomodation is well equipped and we also used the Weber barbecue, gas barbecue by the pool, wood fired pizza oven and reclette grill.  We took our two year old golden doodle and she had a great time with thier two dogs.  Julie was helpful with suggestions of what to do with lots of information of the Le Moulin Verneau website. Thank you.

Very peaceful stay in the beautiful Loire valley.

So relieved to eventually get to Le Moulin Verneau. A trip that was postponed twice due to Covid. Having been in regular contact with Julie, it felt like at long last catching up with old friends. The welcome reception is quite something with the adorable Martha & Pip (furry friends) then Julie, Simon & Carol.
We stayed in the smaller gite Le Deux Chevaux, perfect for us as a couple. Julie’s attention to detail with quirky decor was very appealing. I like to cook and the kitchen living space was well equipped with all you’d need.
My husband and I like to cycle and there is no shortage of scenic routes to choose from. The area is so quiet that even cycling along major roads was surprisingly deserted. Perfect.
Imagine then returning to the lovely swimming pool on offer with comfy loungers ample shade if needed and a fridge to cool the beer.
Julie was very knowledgeable on market days and places she thought we might enjoy visiting. We had some lovely plat du jour’s accompanied by gorgeous French wines, all produced locally. Needless to say I had to bring a few bottles home

Very charming cottage in the middle of the fields which benefits from access to a huge and very well furnished pool with pool beds, canopies, tables, etc. The cottage is very cute and very pleasant, impeccably clean. We had a great weekend

Our stay with Julie, Simon and Carol exceeded our expectations, the property has a villa vibe in an amazing surrounding and benefits from having a heated pool. Their two dogs are well behaved and were very accommodating to our curious Frenchie! Everything is well thought out and lacks nothing to enjoy a short or long term stay, was great to have fast internet and English channels! We definitely would recommend and would likely visit again.

The Perfect Stay

My partner and I stayed at Le Moulin Verneau in early May. It was the perfect getaway for a relaxing weekend break. Julie was attentive and gave us some great advice on local amenities. Thank you for a lovely stay

Wonderful relaxing weekend in a beautiful location

Have recently enjoyed a wonderful long weekend here. Le Moulin Verneau is set in a beautiful location with very comfortable accommodation and excellent facilities. Julie, Simon and Carol (and their dogs) could not have made us feel more welcome. There was plenty to see and do in the local area and when we returned to our gite, we thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the pool and relaxing in the hot tub. Would particularly recommend the beautiful fresh pastries from the local village bakery for breakfast and the delicious selection of cheeses purchased when we visited the market in Langeais on the Sunday morning. Our only complaint was that we had to leave. We will definitely be back

French Escape with tranquility

We were looking for an escape from our busy lives and wanted a week in France where we could have a balance between sightseeing and downtime.

Le Moulin Verneau was perfect - away from the rest of the world, but close enough to cycle to the village to collect the fresh pastries in the morning :-)

We were the only ones by the pool which was great & use of the hot tub too.

Julie was the perfect host, there when we needed her, otherwise very 'laissez faire' - which we enjoyed.

Five days away and we came back feeling like we had been away for two weeks!

Thank you Julie (and Carol) we will definitely be coming back!

Fabulous place to stay

What an awesome place to stay! Fantastic accommodation, beautifully decorated- super comfortable. Gorgeous hot tub and swimming pool, lovely walks and plenty of rest and relaxation. Julie, Simon and Carol are wonderful hosts and I would highly recommend a visit. Lovely markets in nearby towns and villages and a must is a meal near the château and a kayak along the river! Local supermarket a short drive away so you can stock up on food and drinks. Fabulous! We will be back
